Missy Elliott has just released a statement that she has Graves disease, an autoimmune disease that affects your thyroid. Missy says she was diagnosed with the disease in 2008 and has been
receiving radiation to help control it. The symptoms that she faces are
dizzy spells, lumps in her throat, mood swings, hair loss, and bulging
eyes. The diseases is incurable, but she's been taking other medicine to
help control it, the only downside is the weight gain.
Missy's not in danger of her losing her life as the disease is not
life threatening, and she revealed that she's doing much better after
the treatment.
"My thyroid is functioning, so I haven't had to take medication in about nine months."
Our thoughts go out to Missy.
