Rumors of 50 Cent’s departure from the Interscope building have been circulating since 2007, when his planned hit single “Follow My Lead” was leaked months ahead of schedule.
In the three-and-a-half years since then, declining sales, and the departure of Lloyd Banks as well as Tony Yayo have only helped fuel such rumors. When asked in May if he would like to see G-Unit at his new place of employment, Def Jam Senior Vice President of A&R, Sha Money XL told HipHopDX, “They’re my brothers. It’s easy for me to do that, work with them.”
But according to Craig Davis, Capitol Records' National Director of Urban Promotion, Fif is on the verge of joining him.
“50 felt he needed to get out of the Interscope machine, and he wanted a change,” Davis said during an interview with Pyramid West. “So he got his release from there and we were in negotiations with him. The deal just got signed very recently. A Lloyd Banks cut will probably be first, and then 50 Cent is gonna come out later on.”
At press time, 50 Cent has not confirmed his signing to Capitol.
