Comedian and actor Martin Lawrence said “I do” this weekend July 11. “People” magazine is reporting that the Hollywood funnyman married his girlfriend, Shamicka Gibbs, on Saturday. The couple tied the knot during a ceremony in the backyard of Lawrence’s Beverly Hills home. Fellow celebrities Denzel Washington and Eddie Murphy were among the 120 guests in attendance. Lawrence and Gibbs’ two daughters — Amara and Iyana — served as flower girls, as did Lawrence’s daughter Jasmine, from his previous marriage. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a four-course dinner catered by Tres LA that included salad, crab cakes, and salmon. An insider tells “People,” quote, “They wanted an intimate celebration. This wedding was all about family.”Martin Lawrence will return to the big screen next year when he stars in the comedy “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.” The film is set to open on February 18th.
No word yet on what dress the bride wore, but the good news is that the groom didn’t wear one, thankfully leaving his drag alter ego’s Sheneneh Jenkins and Big Momma off the guest list.
